Overall, the majority of UK citizens chose to travelled abroad for their holiday over the period. Regarding the destinantion of visits, Western Europe was the favourest destination of UK residents. Among the purpose of visits overseas by UK people, the largest number was recorded for holiday purpose, at over 15 thousand in the first year, after dropping slightly to 14, 8 thousand in 1995 which was significant increased to 20. 7 thousand in 1998. In term of business and visits to friends and relatives were marginal increased over the period from 3155 and 2689 in the initial year to 3957 and 3181 in 1998, respectively. Turning to the destination, Western Europe was ranked the first throughout the period, at 19 thousand visitors went to Western Europe in 1994, after which it slight dropped by 400 people before rising to 24, 5 thousand in the last year. A similar trend can be seen in North America and other areas. The figure for both dropped slightly in the second year and then it increased gradually to 1823 and 2486 in 1998, respectively.
