The tables below give information about five different reasons people quit smoking, and the time they expect to give up it.
Overall, the majority of people's reasons for giving up smoking are better for health in general, while that for present health issues is the lowest. The number of people expecting to give up is higher than that not intending to quit.
As shown in the first table, the total figure for better health is 71% a fall of 3% in comparison with light smokers(74%). Following, people also want to give up because of economic considerations, which has a similar number of the total and heavy smokers ( over a third ). The remaining reasons are lower 30%, which the proportion of present health is the lowest with a tenth of average and light people.
It is clear in the second chart that the total percentage of people intending to give up is higher than those not doing. Heavy smokers have a lower number ( 60%) than light ones which is the highest number ( 79%). By contrast, the former not intending to give up is as twice as the light people, 40% and 21 %, respectively. People planning to quit within the next 6 months is 35% compared to those prepared for next month is lower ( 12%)
