Excessive consumption of any of those nutrient is considered to negatively affect ones health. Overall, the first two meals of the day eaten by the USA are relatively balanced and healthy, whereas the dinner contains the most sodium and saturated fat. Most of the added sugar is in the snack foods. The first two meals of the day breakfast and lunch appear to be quite healthier and evenly distributed. A typical breakfast, is the lightest meal of the day between 14 and 16 percent of each nutrient. For lunch, people consume between 19 and 29 percent of the nutrients, with added sugar being the lowest and sodium being the highest. On the other hand, dinner and snacks appear to be less balanced. Out of all the meals, dinner contains the largest proportion of sodium and saturated fats with 43 and 37 % respectively. However, in snacking items, the people eat the most is added sugar(42 percent) and slight more in sodium and saturated fats than for breakfast.
