The table gives information about the percentages of households who own 8 types of main consumer durables in Britain, over the years between 1972 and 1983.
It is clear that over the 11 year period all of the proportions increased with television, vacuum cleaner, and refrigerator being the highest durables used by British people. On the other hand households with telephones and central heating had the lowest proportions till dishwashers started to be used by households.
Interestingly, while the proportions of telephone increased the most by reaching %75 from %42, British homes with television didn’t show much of a change by increasing only %5. Also, homes with central heating showed a significant increase by reaching %64 from %39. The only decrease in proportions happened in the years between 1978 and 1979 in washing machines with the numbers falling from %75 to %74.
Overall, the increase in most of the consumer durables after 1979 started to slow down by increasing only %1 each year.
