The table sheds the light on the proportion of forest covered land in different countries between the years 1990 and 2005 and gives a projection towards 2015. Overall, Brazil had the highest percentage in all years, while Chile and Australia had the lowest. Unfortunately, Australia and Brazil showed a decrease in their percentages over time. However, New Zealand and Chile improved the areas filled by forest. First of all, Although Brazil had a falling in the numbers of lands covered by forest over the years; from 62. 2% in 1990 to 57. 2% in 2005 and to an estimated percentage of 53. 5% in 2015, it did manage to stay in the first place among the other three countries. On the other hand, in 1990, Chile had the smallest area of only 20. 4%. However, in 2005 Chile managed to improve its percentage by 0. 9%, which made Australia become the lowest in percentage in that year with only 21. 3%. Fortunately, New Zealand showed the biggest improvement over the years, from 28. 8% to 31. 0% with a projection to reach 32. 3% in 2015, that kept it in the second place among those four countries over a period of a decade and a half.
