The table below gives information about distance travelled by people in Netherlands between 2001 and 2006

The table illustrates the details of the average distance travelled per capita per annum in the Netherlands by various modes of transport from 2001 to 2006 in miles. Overall, the people in the Netherlands travel more in 2001 than that in 2006. The extent travelled by all the transportation methods increased significantly except in the case of walking, using a bicycle and local bus. To begin with, the average distance covered by a  person using a car increased to 4806 miles in 2006 from a value of 3199 in 2001. Apart from the car, the usage of trains, taxis, local distance bus and other transitways rose from 239 to 366, 13 to 42, 54 to 124 and 450 to 585 respectively in between 2001 and 2006. On contrary, in the year 2006, the citizens become less interested in walking, which is the value gradually declined to 237 from 255. Similarly, the utilisation of bicycles decreased by 10 miles from 51 to 41 as the year passed. In addition, the local public transiting bus fall down to 274 which is about 1. 5 times that of the initial period.
