The pictures illustrate Islip town center in present and its changes in the future. Overall, the most radical change is the erection of the new ring road around the center. Other developments, including bus station, shopping mall, car park, and new housing, are also added in the upcoming time. Looking at the first map, we can see the main road running through the Islip from west to east. However, in the planned map, it will be replaced with the route only for pedestrians and a ring road around the town will be formed by the building of a dual carriageway. Currently, there are two rows of shops on both sides of the main road. Nevertheless, the one on the north side will be demolished to make room for a bus station, shop center, car park, and new residential buildings. On the opposite, the shops on the south, the school, and the park will remain, but the town’s park seems to be reduced in size in order to build more houses within the ring road.
