The two pictures illustrate the changes of the village of Stokeford over the years between 1930 and 2010.
Looking at the maps, it is immediately obvious that there were more houses in the village, while the farmland had completely disappeared over time.
In 1930, Stockford mostly consisted of farmland with just a few houses, shops, a post office and a small primary school. There was a large house surrounded by gardens in the east of the village.
By 2010 the village had changed significantly. There were more houses added along the main road, which also replaced the former shops and farmland in the north. The farmland near the river was removed to make way for a new road and also houses. A new retirement house was constructed on the site of the large house and gardens. In addition, the primary school was expanded considerably, while the bridge across the river still remained unchanged.
