The maps give information about transformation of the waterfront area in Stokeford from 1930 to 2010.
As can be seen from the maps, Stockeford underwent a dramatic transformation over the period, becoming noticeably more built up, and there was no more farmland.
In 1930, Stokeford was a small town, which completely located in the east of River Stock. There was a path, which bisected town into two disproportionate parts. Apart from farmland, some shops, post offices and house were constructed in the west of the road. Towards the east of the path, there were also settlements and farmland. Besides, primary school and big gardens including large houses and trees were established.
In 2010, farmlands were demolished to make way for dwellings. Shops towards the west of main road were pulled down to expand route along with new residences. In the opposite side, it is clear that the pathway also was expanded. In addition, primary school was extended and gardens became smaller. Trees were cut down to replace retirement home. Eventually, River Stock and the bridge remain unchanged.
