The map depicts the development of a particular area called Pentland between 1980 and 2007. The initial impression from the map is that the area showed complete obliteration of the industrial zone to make room for recreational amenities. Additionally, there was also the construction of new roads for residential areas. In 1980, the crossroads in the centre of the region divided it into 4 blocks, to the northwest of which sited the industrial area, and the others were vast grassland. Over the next 27 years, this industrial area became non-existent and was replaced by the multi-storey car park which was in the east of the area in 1980 and a swimming pool to the right of the parking spaces. There was also a construction of a new cinema to the southwest. Moreover, more shops were opened along the 4 main roads of the area. Two new roads were built, one of which was in the southeast of the area dividing the block into two parts with houses for inhabitants erected along the two sides. The other new road was constructed to get access to the new yacht marina developing from the sea to the south of the area. Along the road leading to the northeast, green grassland was converted into more apartments for either the locals or the tourists.
