The line graph illustrates three various kinds of law-breaking offences in England and Wales for the period of 25 years between 1970 and 2005. The units have been measured in millions. Overall, it is apparent from the graph that all the crimes related to car theft, house burglary, and street robbery increased over a given period of time. Car theft was the most popular crime from the beginning to the end of the period, followed by house burglary, whereas there were few cases of street robbery in the start, which then rose by the end. With regards to the car theft offence, the figure started with 0. 4 million, and increased sharply for the next 25 years, peaked at 1. 6 million before falling dramatically to 1 million in the year 2005. The crimes related to house burglary began with 0. 2 million in 1970 and then took a drastic rise, being static for the next 15 years [ 1980-1995], again increased gradually and levelled off for some years before falling dramatically at about 0. 5 million at the end of the period. On the other hand, street robbery cases remained static for 20 years from the beginning, and there were very few offences related to it in England and Wales till 1990, after which there was a slight increase observed in it, and it reached 0. 2 million in 2005 and remained steady till the end.
