The line graph illustrates the number of German inhabitants aged 65 or more from 2020 to the present day and predictions until 2050. Transparently, it can be seen from the graph that in the period from 2020 to 2035, the number of people in 3 different age groups is predicted to have an upward trend, and the population of people over 65 years old will always account for the higher rate than other age groups. However, in the period from 2035 to 2050, the population predictions between 65 and 79 years old and over 65 years old will decrease, while in the over 80 age group, the opposite will be seen. On the one hand, in 2020, the number of inhabitants aged over 65 was around 17 million, while the age group 65 to 79 and over 80 years old made up the lower proportion, with the population standing at approximately 13 million and 6 million, respectively. Furthermore, those aged over 65 are predicted to rise and peak at nearly 25 million by 2035. Additionally, the population between 65 and 79 years old and older than 80 is also forecast to follow a similar pattern, with moderate growth for the first 15 years. On the other hand, from 2035 on, a gradual fluctuation in 3 distinct age groups is predicted. While the number of inhabitants over 65 is estimated to decline slightly, just around 24 million in 2050, the population of people aged 69 to 74 will drop rapidly to return to their initial number of about 13 million in the year 2050. By contrast, it is predicted that those older 80 will continue the upward trend with a projected population of 10 million in 2050.
