The line chart illustrates the development of the number of tourists in two different countries over an 8-year period, starting in 1995. The amount of tourists in Dubai showed a steady but significant rise, while the number of visitors in Malaysia also initially grew but then experienced a downward trend. In 1995 nearly 50. 000 tourists came to Dubai, in the following year the numbers slightly dropped. However, between 1996 and 1998 the number of tourists experienced a rapid surge to approximately 160 thousand per year. After another small drop in 1999, a steady and quick growth to over 300 thousand visitors in 2001 followed. Around that time, the number of visitors in Dubai exceeded the numbers of Malaysia. Dubai experienced a thrid modest fall of tourist numbers in 2002, then, a strong increase to 400000 at the end of the period is visible. In the meantime, Malaysia started in 1995 with a higher number of tourists than Dubai with 100000 tourists per year. It experienced a steady growth until 2001. Then, the number of tourists declined dramatically and dropped under 250 000 people in 2003. Overall, both of the countries experienced a rise of tourist numbers over the depicted 8-year period.
