The graphs below show the enrolments of overseas students and local students in Australian universities over a ten year period. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the number of local students and students from other countries who were enrolled to Australian universities in 9 years from 2001 to 2010. Overall, it is clear from the graph that ratio of foreign students, both total and commencing increased, while the number of Australian learners remained steady for the last three years. At the start of the period, total and commencing enrollments of international students were almost on the same level at the number of 2 million and grew exponentially. However, the level of commencing enrollment didn’t change a lot from 2009 to 2010, staying at 4 million. In contrast with that, total number of local students who entered Australian universities starts at the point of 4 million and had rose only for 7 years. At the same time enrollment of commencing students slightly fluctuated. It peaked in 2002 and then were decreasing for the next 4 years.
