The graphs above give information about computer ownership as a percentage of the population between 2002 and 2010, and by level of education for the years 2002 and 2010. VppQ
The first bar graph shows the percentage of computer ownership of the population between the years 2002 to 2010, and the second graph compares its popularity among people based on their educational background. The first graph shows that 2010 was the year where computer ownership reached its peak at 79%. In addition from the second graph, we can see that the popularity of computers were more evident for people who were postgraduate degree holders. However, this doesn’t seem to hold true for people with no high school diploma as they only accounted for 45% of computer owners during this year. But going back to 2002, the number of computer owners tends to be skewed on the opposite with ownership reaching only 59% of the population. Despite this, its popularity still holds true for postgraduate degree holders with more than half at 75% owning a computer. Meanwhile, those with no high school diploma still accounted for the lowest number of owners at 15%. Overall it seems that the trend for computer ownership has grown steadily for the past 8 years and its attractiveness for postgraduate degree holders has also been gradually increasing while it holds the opposite for people with no high school diploma. Even though signs of rising ownership in computers for this segment has been found they still account for less than 50% of the population.
