The graph shows the reasons why people make and break their relationships on a social media site. N3Kaq
The chart illustrates the major causes of people's decisions to befriend and unfriend on a popular social media platform. Overall, it can be seen from the chart that the primary reason why people make friends is that they are real-life acquaintances, while the splits of their friendships are mostly due to offensive comments. It is also noticeable that there is a wide disparity in the gap among the reasons for people who make friends online, as opposed to those who drift apart. In terms of making virtual friends, the percentage of people who know each other in real life stays at more than 80%, followed by mutual friends at 60%. Meanwhile, the proportion of attractiveness and increasing friend count is fairly similar, with about 8% and 7% respectively. With regard to the decisions to unfriend, the figures for offensive comments are nearly three times greater than lack of interaction, which is the lowest proportion at 20%. In addition, not knowing people well is the second-highest percentage of the causes, outnumbering depressing comments by the ratio of two to one.
