The graph illustrates the variations in the number of Margarine, Low fat and Butter in grams consumed in the years between 1981 and 2007. According to the graph, Butter was the most consumed spread with 140 grams while only 90 grams of Margarine was consumed before the year 1981. The number of the butter consumed reached to the peak of 160 in next five years before started declining dramatically down to 100 in the years between 1986 and 1991. Likewise at the same period, the number of the margarine consumed reached its peak and collied with that of butter consumption. After that, there was no increase in the number of margarine consumption and eventually showed a decline ever since. Over the period of 1991 to 1996, people started consuming low fat and reduced spreads by only 10 grams. Thus, Low fat and reduced spreads became the most consumed spread of all three by the year 2007 at 75 grams since the butter and margarine had been declining gradually down to under 50 grams.
