The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

The line chart depicts the composition of elders aged 65 and above in the USA, Sweden, and Japan from 1940 to 2040. At a glance, the rate of aging population has been increasing from 1940 and it is predicted to rocket drammatically for the next decades for the three countries. To begin with, in 1940, individuals aged more than 65 stood at less than 10% and USA ranked at the first position folloowed by Sweden and Japan. Meanwhile, for the next 40 years, the number climbed up gradually for USA and Sweden at 15% and just below 15% respectively. Nevertheless, this number slightly dipped to less than 5% for Japan in the same year. However, this proportion bounced back step by step for the next half a century leading to the same proportion as it were in the USA in 1960. On the other side, Sweden aging population overtook USA position approximately in 2000 and will level up substantially until 25% disregard a little plunge in 2028. Whilst, elders in the US remain stable for these decades before it will rise in 2020 and above to 22, 5%. Unexpectedly, Japan elder population will jump up rapidly especially in 2020 to 2040 and overpass the others reaching the first rank at 26%.
