The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.

The line chart depicts the composition of elders aged 65 and above in the USA, Sweden, and Japan from 1940 to 2040. At a glance, the rate of aging population has been increasing from 1940 and it is predicted to rocket drammatically for the next decades for the three countries. To begin with, in 1940, individuals aged more than 65 stood at less than 10% and USA ranked at the first position folloowed by Sweden and Japan. Meanwhile, for the next 40 years, the number climbed up gradually for USA and Sweden at 15% and just below 15% respectively. Nevertheless, this number slightly dipped to less than 5% for Japan in the same year.
