The graph below shows the consumption of margarine, low fat & reduced spreads and butter from 1981 to 2007 BYx29
The graph shows the consumption of margarine, low fat & reduced spreads and butter between 1981 and 2007. At the beginning, Butter takes the lead, it rose from over 140 in 1981 grams to nearly 160 grams in 1986, which is the highest value in three spreads. Nevertheless, it declined enormously and reached the lowest value in 2007 at 50 grams. On the contrary, low fat & reduced spreads increased since 1996 until it started decreasing in 2001 yet not a large number, as a result, it still kept the first place in 2007. In terms of Margarine placed behind butter at first, however, it grew slightly from 1986 to 1991 then remained the same in 5 years. Over the final period of this graph, we see a deduction of margarine, which makes it finished as the last one in 2007, it's an astonishing change when merely 6 years ago, margarine was still the highest one. Overall, the consumption of all three spreads is unstable.
