The information about average carbon dioxide emissions per person in 4 countries, such as the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal, from 1967 to 2007 is given in the graph. Generally, while CO2 emissions in the United Kingdom and Sweden declined, in Italy and Portugal it went up.
In 1967, the United Kingdom was most carbon dioxide releasing country being 12 metric tonnes per person, nevertheless, during 10 years it decreased negligibly, then it took a decline till 2007 and changed by 3 metric tonnes. Meanwhile Sweden was behind of the United Kingdom at the beginning. Until 1967 it increased sharply, however, it could not exceed the latter. During 30 years, it went down markedly, decreasing nearly twice and being at the end 5 metric tonnes.
In the same time, Italy began at approximately 4 metric tonnes, but then it increased and in 1988 exceeded Sweden. From 1997 to 2007 it stood constant and, overall, it went up about twice. Portugal was at the least among these countries being under 2 metric tonnes and then it began increasing, however, in 2007, it stood at the same level as Sweden.
