The first graph depicts the comparison between the UK citizens travelling internationally and people
residing in other countries visiting the UK between 1979 and 1999, while the second graph portrays the
countries receiving highest volume of UK travelers in 1999.
The number of UK residents traveling overseas has increased dramatically from 12 million travellers in
1979 to almost 53 million in 1999. The growth rate was consistent from 1979 to 1999, with a substantial
change in 1985. On the other hand, the number of non-UK residents visiting the UK also witnessed a
similar trend, but the climb in numbers was nowhere near the surge in the UK residents traveling
abroad.
The chart also shows that France and Spain were the most popular destinations for UK travelers in 1999,
with France being in lead. However, USA, Greece and Turkey also recieved significant traffic fom UK, but
the volumes were far less than that of Spain and France.
The graphs show that the number of UK citizens traveling abroad have greatly increased from 1979 to
1999 with France being the most visited country outside of UK in 1999. Furthermore, the number of
non-UK citizens traveling to UK have also increased.
