The diagrams illstrate the way the water supply system currently works in Australia and its prediction to be changed in the future. Overall, it can be seen that the changes proposed are for better recycling of water and the waste will no longer be released into the river. At present, the water sypply systems shows that the pure water is stored in a dam before being transferred to the city to be used by households, shops and factories. After that, storm water is released into the river from the city while the wastewater is generated at a water treatment plant. From the recycling plant, the treated water is now safe to be sent to the river. Regarding the future water sypply system, the city’s pure water supply will continue to come from the dam and the uses of it in the city are the same as the previous plan. However, both the storm and the waste water from the city are to be directed to the water treatment plant for processing after which they will be filtered and recylced back for use in the city. There will be no discharge of water into the river.
