The line graph illustrates the rate of travellers who travelled to Malaysia and Dubai between 1995 and 2003. Data are measured in thousand. Overall, Dubai experienced an upward trend throughout the period, while Malaysia showed a gradual decline in the number of tourists at the end of the period. Although Dubai initially had a lower rate, it outraced Malaysia at the end of the period. In 1995, the figure of tourists who visited Dubai was nearly 49 thousand which showed a significant rise by 126 thousand between 1995 and 1998. Moreover, the rate declined slightly from 175 thousand to 151 thousand in 1999. Afterwards, the Dubai rate increased sharply throughout the period, exceeding Malaysia rate in 2002 and reaching almost 400 thousand at the end of the period. In early 1995, the traveller rates of Malaysia stood at 100 thousand that was the highest among these two countries. Furthermore, it rose to its highest point at 325 thousand in 2001. However, it dramatically declined to around 249 thousand in 2003 which was less than the rate of dubai. So, Malaysia visitors rate was the lowest at the end of the year 2001.
