In particular, solar panels have to absorb energy from the sun and turn it into DC current. The next step is converting DC current into AC current by the inverter to control the electricity and production. After that, the electrical panel distributes the electricity to the home. Furthermore, any excess solar electricity will follow back to the grid through the utility meter. And the last step is the utility grid which provides electricity when one exceeds the amount produced by solar panels. To sum it up, it is clear that sunlight is crucial for solar panels to work, otherwise, solar panels will not absorb the energy and the utility grid will not be able to provide electricity.
