The diagram illustrates how people produced chocolate in 10 stages of the process, beginning with the cacao tree growth in some countries, ending with the liquid chocolate produced is being pressed by the inner part.
In the first step, the cacao tree was planted in some countries such as South America, Africa, Indonesia, then the tree produced some ripe red pods. Afterwards, the farmer would harvest the pods to collect some nuts from them which are called white cacao beans. This is followed by fermenting the beans and spreading in the sun to dry them. Subsequently, all the dried beans are put in the sacks for the transportation to the factory by train or lorry. Once this stage is completed, the beans will be roasted and then crushed by a machine, this would make it easier to remove the outer shell in the next step. Finally, in the last stage, the inner parts would be activated to finish putting pressure to the liquid chocolate produced.
