The diagram demonstrates the life cycle of a fern plant.

The diagram demonstrates the life cycle of a fern plant. wK96q
The diagram demonstrates the life cycle of a fern plant. Generally, there are 5 main stages in this cycle, including the formation of eggs and their growth to become mature plants. At first, spores situated at the leaf underside leave the main plant in order to find an ideal environment to start their new life. Afterward, the spores undergo a process called prothallus that involves egg cells and sperms, 2 types of cells into which sperms are transformed. The egg cells can be produced directly, while the sperm are born inside sperm cells. Once these cells are complete, they are combined to create fertilized egg cells. Subsequently, the newborn cells grow up by forming new components. After the first several days, the cells mature into a young fern with basic body parts like a root system, the main stalk, and some large leaves. Following this, the plant continues developing itself until it becomes a fully grown fern. The fern then reproduces spores through its leaves, repeating the cycle.
