The illustration depicts the way leather items are manufactured. Overall, it is a man-made process, which has seven steps, beginning with drying animal skin and ending with manufacturing final leather products. Despite being mostly done by machinery, it is a lengthy process. The first stage of the process is drying. Animal skin is dried in the air. Then, it is sent to a factory. The second step is washing. In this stage, dried animal skin is washed in water and lime solution. After that the next stage is soaking, in this step, washed skin is soaked in lime. In the next step, soaked skin is flattened in the machine. Therafter, skin is soaked in tannin. It is made of water and vegetable matter. Next, polishing is done with the help of machine. Finally, this polished leather is transferred to the factory, where different items such as shoes, bags, heels and balls are produced.
