An inspection of the data in pie charts reveals the contribution of Australia and Germany’s population to tourism during the timeframe from 1960 and 2010.
From the overall perspective, it can be clearly observed that Australia mostly chose Europe as a holiday destination in the start of the period, however its preference significantly changed, being Asia in 2010. In stark contrast, Germans remained unchanged in terms of their choices, mainly travelling to Europe.
As for the tourism of Australia, the share of Europe in this comprised more than a half per cent in 1960, taking the leading position among other participants, however, 40 years later, it accounted for only 10%. On the contrary, having been one in ten percent at the beginning, the percentage of Asia was almost 6 times more in 2010. With respect to the proportion of Britain and USA, they both experienced a notable decrease by 5%.
Regarding the choices of the German, Europe was the most popular destination for holidays in both years (45% and 40% respectively). While there was a marked rise in the share of Asia and USA in tourism of Germany to just under than a third per cent, the figures for Britain dramatically fall from 20% to 6% only in 2010.
