Meanwhile, the number of women who were overweight was higher than men in 1993. In the next 9 years, both of them witnessed a slight rise. Overweight men accounted for 48 % of the weight group while overweight women accounted for 50%.
Between 1993 and 2002, the proportion of obese men and women had the same uptrend. In 1993, obese men and women accounted for 10% of the weight group and the rate of both sexes rose to approximately 18% after 9 years. There were no men and women in dangerously obese group in 1993 and the figure remained the same in 2002.
Overall, in a period of 9 years, healthy weight population had a downtrend while the proportion of obese people increased signigicantly.
