The pie charts illustrate the proportion of total water consumption by 5 factors in Sydney, Australia during the period of 10 years from 1997 to 2007. Overall, it is clear that the food industry consumed the largest amount of total water usage. Moreover, the percentage of total water used by the service industry in 2007 was almost double the figure for 1997. Units are measured in percentage. During a decade, food industry saw a slight decline of 7%, from 48% in 1997 to 41% in 2007. Manufacturing and building industry also witnessed a decline in the percentage of total water consumption. The total amount of water used by the former in 2007 was 4% lower than that in 1997, whereas the figure for the latter merely decreased from 5% to 2%. On the contrary, there are two sectors experienced an increase in the proportion of total water usage.
