Overall, unemployment was higher in rural areas as compared to urban areas in the beginning of the year. Both areas shows opposite trends in the middle of the year. It reaches at almost same point in the last phase of the year.
Around 2% people of the city were looking for jobs in the initial phase of the 1st quarter. On the contrary, around 6. 9% villagers were seeking job opportunities. At the start of 2nd quarter, the number fell down to 4. 5% in remote areas whereas it increased to 4% in metro areas. There is opposite trend for both the areas. From second quarter onwards, people living in cities found it easy to get jobs which resulted in the decline of unemployment up to around 2%. However, this number increased in rural areas and reached up to around 5. 5%.
Third quarter shows a steep increase in unemployment in urban areas touching the 4% mark and further increasing to almost 5% in the middle of fourth quarter. On the contrary, this rate is almost same in remote areas. It is showing slight variation only. It remains around 5% from 3rd quarter onwards till the middle of fourth quarter.
