The bar chart gives information from a questionnaire about Australian people’s tendency to buy and drink coffee and tea in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart in the last four weeks.
Overall, it is evident that the maximum proportion of the cities residents preferred to go to a cafe for hot beverages with an exception of Adelaide, where citizens were more interested in buying fresh or instant coffee. Furthermore, buying coffee beans was generally less common in all cities in Australia.
In terms of Sydney and Melbourne, about 45% of these cities residents consumed fresh coffee, while the number of people buying instant coffee was slightly higher (just over 45% and less than 50% respectively). However, there was a significant margin, when the percentage of people in both cities who purchased coffee and tea was more than 60%.
On the other hand, the number of people in the remaining cities consuming hot beverages in a cafe was from 50% to 54%, which was substantially more than the percentage of people who bought fresh coffee in the same cities (about 15% more). In addition to this, almost 65% of Hobart citizens preferred to drink coffee and tea outdoors, and in Brisbane and Adelaide, the numbers of the same category of people were slightly more than 55% and just under 50% respectively.
