The bar graph depicts information about how commuters travelled to work in one city in New Zealand, in 1996. The forms of transport that people used are follows: Private Car or Truck; Company Vehicle; Worked at home; walked or jogged; Public bus; Bicycle; Train; Motorcycle; Other. The tallest bar is in respect of Private car or Truck, typically, any form of private transport. (This should only mean that people preferred private transport over any other form of transport because of the benefits they get from the former, or the other forms are not quite good or not preferable by most). It can be interpreted from the graph that, the other forms didn't even account to 10% each in the preferred mode of transport the private mode is at the apex, with the highest contribution of around 50%, about 5 or 6 times higher than the company vehicle, which grabs the second place. Even, the modes of working from home, walking or jogging, public bus, bicycle have made some considerable contribution. But the contributions of train, motorcycle and the other(s) are almost negligible. It is clearly evident from the graph that, the people preferred private transport or truck, over any other mode of transport, because of the comfort, and convenience it offers. This will only lead to the surge of the level of pollution, and will eventually, degrade the environment to an alarming level.
