The given bar chart depicts the literacy levels of Indians in terms of men and women, and it is categorized by rural and urban regions in the years 2013, 2015 and 2017. Overall, the literacy levels in India had an upward trend. Both urban-males and urban-females literacy levels were higher than those of rural males and females. In terms of male, in urban regions, males had higher literacy levels than in rural areas. Men's literacy levels in rural-regions rose significantly from 57. 80 to 77. 15 in the years given whereas the literate rates of urban males increased steadily from 81. 09 to 88. 71 in the years 2013, 2015 and 2017 respectively. With regards to women, rural women's literacy rate was considerably lower than those living in urban regions. Women's literacy rate experienced a rise from 30. 62 to 57. 93 by 2017. In contrast, the urban-females literacy rate increased gradually from 64. 05 to 79. 22 over the three years.
