Overall, while the use of car witnessed an upward trend, the figure for other transport decreased significantly. In addition, it can also be seen that car was the most popular transport in Manchester. In 1960, only 7, 5% of cars were used to travel to and from work in Manchester. This figure rocketed to 25% in 1980 and more than 35% in 2000. Dissimilarly, the percentage of bus used in Manchester experienced a decline over the years from 20% in 1960 down to approximately 17% in 2000. There were 35% of going on foot, higher than that by using bike by 8% in 2003. In the final year, while the figure for walking decreased slightly to 10%, the propotion for using bike plunged rapidly by 16%.
