The bar chart indicates the percentages of gross domestic product produced from two sectors ( IT and Service industry) in the UK between 1992 and 2000. Overall, it can be seen that the GDP proportion of both industries increased though IT remained at a higher rate through the period. Despite the increases in both components, the trend of the Service industry remained nearly unchanged in final years. In the first year(1992), the Service industry comprised 4% of GDP which was overtaken by IT with over 6%. Over the four years, the IT sector experienced a minute drop in percentage of GDP from over 8% to below 8%. Although that, the Service industry was still below IT with nearly 7% of GDP. Starting from 1996, it is obvious that the rate of GDP from IT grew quite sharply to 12% while the Service industry witnessed a negligible increase. At the end of the period, the percentage of GDP from IT jumped sharply to 15% reaching its highest point which was almost the same with the doubled proportion of GDP from the Service industry.
