The bar chart illustrates the price changes, in percentages, of the average houses in five different cities namely, New York, Madrid, Tokyo, Frankfurt, and London from 1990 to 2002 compared to the cost of houses in 1989.
Overall, compared to 1989, prices of the houses were markedly descended—except Madrid and Frankfurt—in the first 5-year period from 1990 to 1995. In contrast, in the following period, between 1996 and 2002, expenses of houses witnessed notable ascents besides the ones in Tokyo.
Firstly, in the first 5-year interval, the costs of houses in New York, Tokyo, and London descreased by approximately 5%; however, it lessened slighty more—by 2%—for the last two. The money that was spent on the houses in the remaining countries soared minimally in the same period. Additionally, houses in Frankfurt increased marginally more in terms of the cost.
In the aforementioned following period, between 1996 and 2002, houses that were located in Tokyo lost value and declined by 5%. Contrarily, it was the opposite for New York which was an increase in value of 5%. Homes in Madrid and Spain, however, did not quite increase in value. The former was roughly 4% and the latter was almost a quarter of this. In addition to that, prices of the houses in London skyrocketed and saw nearly a 11% ascent which results in this jump being even more than two times higher than those in New York
