It is clear that the literacy rate of the male was similar to the female in Central Asia and Central / Eastern Europe. On the other hand, in the remaining areas, it is noticeable that the literacy proportion of men was always higher than that of women. Regarding reading and writing ability of males in Central / Eastern Europe, East Asia / Pacific and Latin American / Caribbean were almost the same as with 90%. The proportion of literate men in South and West Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa were 80% and 70% respectively, which were the lowest rates. Central Asia was the region with a 100% citizens rate, which was the highest among all seven areas. Moreover, the percentage of literacy in East Asia / Pacific, Latin America / Caribbean was almost over 90%. Whereas, there was a difference between the literacy rate of the male and females in South and West Asia, the proportion of literate men was 80% and the woman was only 60%.
