The bar chart presents data about the number of births and deaths in switzerland over a fifty-year period between 1960 and 2010. Units are measured in millions. Overall, the highest number of births was in 2010, which was also the year with the least number of deaths in the given period, compared to the lowest in 1960. The maximum number of deaths, however, was in 1980. Over 3 million people were born in 2010 as opposed to around 1. 2 million in 1960. In 1980, there were 1. 5 million deaths whereas it was under a million in 2010. In 1970, however, there were more deaths (roughly 1. 3 million) than births (about 1. 2 million). In 1990 and 2000, though the figures for the births were higher than those for the deaths (approximately 2. 7 million, and 3 million against 1. 1 million, and 0. 9 million respectively). In conclusion, while the birth rate kept rising significantly throughout the fifty-year period, the death fell dramatically since 1980.
