The former chart illustrates energy consumption in a moderate Australian household. The recent chart demostrates share of each energy usage source in greenhouse gas emission. In addition, energy usage sources are categorized into six distinct groups including water heating, refrigeration, lighting, heating, cooling and other applications. Firstly, Australians consume energy mostly in heating and keeping the water warm, which form up to 72 percent of their energy usage. However, these two ways of using energy will eventually emit approximately half of the total greenhouse gas produced by household energy consumption. On the other hand, cooling facilities which include refrigeration and cooling as air conditioning spend 13 percent of all energy used as a total and in return make greenhouse gases twice as they used (nearly 25 percent). Similarly, 4 percent of an average Australian household energy consumption is dedicated to lighting applications where two times of that, or in other words, 8 percent is returned to the environment as greenhouse gases.
