In recent years, people and governments all over the world have started to consider imposing bans on plastic bags. Nevertheless, while there are a number of negative effects that banning plastic bags may have, there are also some positive impacts that are likely to cause problems on people's lives. Unfortunately, every year many people and animals die in light of pollution. So, the question is, is it beneficial for people’s lives and for the environment to ban plastic bags? At first glance, one of the main arguments in favor is that the pollution of the planet will be reduced within the next years. If plastic bags no longer exist, people will be forced to use recyclable cloth bags that do not pollute the earth and our oceans. According to a US analyst blog, 40% of garbage in US shops contains plastic and cardboard packaging. This is a large proportion of plastic and as a result, it is detrimental to the environment, and most importantly to human health. What is more, a recent study indicates that the companies cost after reducing packaging has decreased. Therefore, there are some positive aspects that should be taken into account. At the other end of the spectrum, on the downside, plastic bags play an essential role on people's lives and convenience. As Clara Simms who is a distribution manager said "Plastic packaging makes produce easier to transport and assures customers that it is fresh. ln other words, it remains fresh for longer time and it is less likely to get damaged. This means that the disposal of plastic packaging may actually discourage a number of customers from using the store, which will eventually lead to considerable financial problems.
