The bar chart illustrates the number of families measured in percentage living in either a personal or leased apartment in the UK and Wales for a period of 93 years. Overall, it can be seen that this that Live in rented accommodation maintained a gradual decrease while this living in owned apartment maintained a downward trend till the end of the period when there was a change. 1918 had the highest percentage of more than 70% of the total population living in a rented house when compared to families in owned homes making up 22%. There was a significant decrease in the number staying in the leased homes to 68% in 1939 and this was maintained till 1953 at the same rate. However, in 1971 families living in private and leased apartment made up 50%. Households in owned apartment experienced a significant increase to 60% in 1981. Whereas, persons in the rented homes had a fall of 10% decrease in same year. However, towards the end of the period in 2011, there was a gradual decrease to 62% ok n rented apartment in contrast to an increase in owned apartment to 35%.
