Renewable energy consumption from year 1950 to 2008

Renewable energy consumption from year 1950 to 2008 WnblK
Increase of population and construction of mega cities has led the world to a huge energy crisis. Due to the global warming scientists are now searching for efficient renewable energy sources. Hydro power, wind, Biofuels, and wood are some of the widely used natural methods to generate power at present. The graph illustrates that the consumption of all these energy sources has escalated from year 1950 to year 2008. Energy produced from Biofuel and wind has begun from around 1981 and has increased, but both of those are at a very less usage level till 2008. However, usage has increased at a higher rate after year 2000. Even though wind power is free, it is the least used renewable energy source, and its amount is less than one Quadrillion Btu. Hydroelectric power and wood have covered most of the consumption with more than one Quadrillion Btu amount in all years from 1950 to 2008. Even though there are fluctuations in Hydroelectric power consumption, it is the highest except in few years in which usage of wood has passed. Usage of wood was greater than usage of Hydroelectric power in the years 1987, 1988 and 1989. There is a notable decrease of Hydro power usage from 1984 to 1988 and from 1996 to 2000. But it has eventually increased up to around 2. 5 Quadrallion Btu. Despite of small decreases in the amounts of the total consumption of renewable energy, it has drastically increased from 3 Quadrallion Btu to 7 Quadrallion Btu throughout the years from 1950 to 2008. Hence the consumption has become more than doubled after 58 years leaving the mankind to wonder what other energy sources, are available to satisfy the demand of the growing population.
