The diagram illustrates how an Australian town collects rainwater to process in order to use as drinking water. Overall, rainwater collected from houses can be used as drinking water after it has been processed by treating it with chemicals and filtering processes. Initially, the rainwater which is collected by the gutter and then runs the pipe down to the side of the house into the drain. Each house collects the rainwater in the similar fashion and then it is sent to the water filterer through the underground pipes. The rainwater passes through the water filter where it is filtered of its impurities. Once it has been filtered, it continues along the pipes to a storage tank and then to a water treatment tank. In the water treatment tank, it is treated with many chemicals in order to make it fit for the consumption. When the water is fit for drinking it is sent back to the houses through a different set of underground pipes where people can use it for different purposes.
