The diagram shows the process of making chocolate. There are 10 main steps in the process, beginning with the growing of the pods on the cacao trees and finishing with producting the liquid chocolate. To begin, the pods comes from the cacao trees, they are mostly grown in South America, Africa and Indonesia. When the pods turn into red and ripe, they are then harvested and the white cocoa beans are removed from the pod. Next, the beans are fermented so as to destroy the seed coat, kill the germ and give the cocoa a good taste. After the fermentation process, the beans are spreaded on a large tray to be dehydrated under the sun. Then, all the dry beans are put in large sacks and transported to the factory by train or lorry. After that, they need to go through the roasted process at a temperature of 350 degrees. Next, they are sent to a cylindrical machine to be crushed with the outer shells removed. The final stage is the inner part get pressed and liquid chocolate is made.
