Following pie charts below illustrate the various food items in two different cities in India with their annual consumption in year 2006 and 2018. Overall, we observe that there was a decline in the consumption of egg, fish and meat in 2018 as compared to 2006 in Delhi and Mumbai.
In 2006, egg, fish and meat was the highest consumed food items in Delhi and Mumbai which was 36% and 55%. Next to this, the second highest food consumed by the people of Delhi was vegetables and pulses with 33% but this percentage dropped in Mumbai by 11%. There was a slight rise in cereals as compared to Mumbai where in Delhi it was 8%, consumption in Mumbai was 11%. Furthermore, milk products comsumption was of merely 1% in Mumbai in comparison with Delhi.
In 2018, consumption of milk products increased immensively in both the cities with 22% and 15%. However, fresh fruits and vegetables were parallel in both cities which was 19%, 17% in Delhi and 20%, 8% in Mumbai. Cereals consumption in Delhi increased upto 11% and 16% in Mumbai.
