The three pie charts describe the average proportions of sodium, saturated fats and added sugars – unhealthy nutrients when exceedingly consumed – in American typical meals. Overall, in all four meals, namely breakfast, dinner, lunch and snacks, the percentages of sodium and saturated consumption are quite similar, while those of added sugar are different. Both sodium and saturated fat consumptions are quite similar in their proportions of the four meals. Such nutrients are mostly consumed during dinner at 43% and 37%, respectively, while at lunch, their consumption drop to the second largest at 29% and 26%, individually. However, the consumption of both nutrients is significantly smaller at breakfast and snacks. Sodium is consumed equally during both meals at 14%, whereas the consumption of saturated fat accounts for 21% at snacks and 16% at lunchtime. In contrast, the amount of added sugar consumed during the day is different (from those of sodium and saturated fat). The consumption of added sugar gains its largest percentage during snacks at 42%, while dramatically dropping to 23% at dinner. At lunch and breakfast, the proportions of added sugar consumption slightly differ at 19% and 16%, respectively.
