Overall, it can be clearly seen that an upward trend was observed in both the number of Japanese people traveling abroad and the proportion of people from Japan who visited Australia. According to the bar chart, Japanese travelers who went abroad were about 5, 000, 000 in 1985. There was followed by a dramatic growth by 6, 000, 000, from 5, 000, 000 to 11, 000, 000, between 1985 and 1990. However, a drop took place in 1991 to around 11, 000, 000. There was a slight increase to exactly 12, 000, 000 in 1993 before rising significantly from 12, 000, 000 in 1993 to above 15, 000, 000 in 1995. According to the line graph, the percentage of Japanese travelers who visited Australia was approximately 2%. Between 1985 and 1988, the figure grew considerably from 2 to almost 5%. In contrast, the percentage dropped to nearly 4 % in 1989 before increasing significantly to more than 6 in 1993. Then, there was a drop to exactly 6% in 1995.
