Number of medals won by the top five countries in the summer and winter Olympics

The bar-graphs illustrate how many medals the top five countries obtained in the summer and winter Olympic Games. The winter Olympics graph also demonstrates the number gold, silver, and bronze medals. Overall, three countries are among the top five countries in both the summer and winter Olympics. Norway has the advantage in the winter Olympics with a total of 370 medals while the USA has the advantage in the summer Olympics with 2500 medals. In the winter Olympics, the US stands behind Norway with 300 medals. Germany arrives at the third position, cumulating almost 250 medals. The last positions are occupied by Russia and Canada with approximately the same amount of medals. In addition, Norway has the highest number of gold, silver, and bronze medals. However, the trend is rather different for the summer Olympics. The US is placed first while Russia has the second position, followed closely by Germany. Further away are Grain Britain and France with less than 1000 medals.
