From the past few years it is observed that the students are preferring other subjects over Science. This can be due to many reasons. Today, there are plethora of other streams and career options to choose other than Science such as Interior designing, fashion, accounts etc. During my secondary education, I have observed that, almost 75 percentage of students had issues dealing with Science and Mathematics, which directly lead to neglection of the same in the future as well. Also, majority of the students are into a notion that, scientific studies and researches are a time-taking process, due to which the field may not be grabbing attention. In the olden times, over twenty decades ago the only subject that was trending over all the world was “Science”. However, there are both pros and cons over ignorance of Science at educational institutions by adolescents. Science is a subject that deals with various elements of the nature and the world. For example, botany-the study of plants and chemistry-study of matter and reactions all come under the same shell. There are huge number of career opportunities in this field. Science is a continuous refining process which includes knowledge of the universe and future investigation. The decrease in the graph of Science learners directly effects the future technological and scientific innovations. The drawbacks and reasons for less learners in this stream can be, over pressuring assignments and impractical teaching methods. According to my schooling experience, laboratory sessions were the most interesting ones, as they included practical teaching. Only theoretical knowledge may not help students understand the topic, this can also be one of the most common reason for not choosing Science. To sum up my opinions, I would say that, anything cannot be achieved or worked on, unless there is passion and interest towards the subject. Therefore, the basic principles related to scientific theories and studies that each and every individual shall be aware of, those shall be included in the curriculum, later in the secondary grades specific topics of the study can be introduced to the students with brief explanations which can help them develop interest towards a special category and work on their skillset accordingly.
